UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Famed artist Shooter Jennings proposed to his longtime partner Drea De Matteo while performing at the Stanley Center for the Arts Thursday evening.
De Matteo, 37, and Jennings, 30, have been dating since 2001. Together, they have an 18-month-old daughter named Alabama.
Shooter Jennings is the only son of country legends Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter. According to his biography, he is famous for his blend of country-infused rock and for having at least six Billboard chart-topping records.
De Matteo is famous for having starred as Adriana in the HBO television series The Sopranos and starred as Joey's sister in the former NBC sitcom Joey.
A concertgoer tells People.com, "She was dancing on the side of the stage holding Alabama when he called her onstage. She was so surprised by the proposal."
Jennings confirmed the news on his Twitter after the gig, writing, "Asked Drea to marry me on stage tonight. I'm a lucky man. I'll never forget Utica, Ny."
The concert was hosted by The Robert Esche Save of the Day Foundation, which helps Mohawk Valley children who face life-threatening illnesses.
Rob Esche, who attended the concert and is the founder of the foundation said, "I thought it was pretty cool. A lot of people did not know it was going to happen. We were sitting in the front, so we could hear everything that was going on so it was pretty exciting."
Esche said that the concert did well in ticket sales and in donations received but a final total was unavailable.
